Register Your Emergency Contact Info

When emergencies happen, emergency contact info is as close as your Florida drivers license. When you register with the Emergency Contact Information (ECI) program, law enforcement officials can access information to contact friends or loved ones in cases of emergency.

The ECI program is a result of efforts of Christine Olson, who was notified 6-1/2 hours after her daughter Tiffany was fatally injured in a traffic accident. Wanting to help others avoid this horrible experience, Ms. Olson, with the assistance of Florida State Representative Bill Galvano and the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV), developed the program originally know as TIFF's Initiative (To Inform Families First). Similar programs have been established in Colorado, Illinois and Ohio.

Through websites https://www8.flhsmv.gov/eci/ or www.ToInformFamiliesFirst.org, Florida residents can have contact info embedded on their Florida drivers license or Florida ID card. The information is stored and secured by DHSMV and is only accessed by law enforcement. The program is voluntary and there is no cost.

There are currently over 3.2 million persons registered on Florida ECI. The goal is to have 5 million registrations by end of 2010.

Burglary Task Force

Burglary Task Force makes several arrests and recovers a significant amount of property.

On April 13, 2010, the Sheriff’s Office formed a burglary task force in response to an ongoing problem with vehicle and residential burglaries.

On April 16, task force members received information regarding individuals who were dealing in large amounts of stolen property. Subsequent investigation led to arrest warrants for five individuals and search warrants for three residences.

The warrants were executed this morning at the following residences with the subjects listed below charged with Trafficking in Stolen Property.

-215 60th Ave. Dr. W., Bradenton; Marco Tulio Alverado, DOB 11-      1-84; Christopher Heraldo Galdamez, DOB 8-7-89

    -5624 14th St W., Lot 45 A, Bradenton; Hector Manuel Romo, DOB       1-20-74

-3817 10th St. Ct. E., Bradenton; Oscar Torres-Arevalo, DOB 6-       14-71;  Lorena Moreno-Roman, DOB 12-5-81  (Three children,         ages 2, 3 and 5, were placed into custody of Child                 Protection.)

Over 400 suspected stolen items have been recovered from the three residences with an estimated value of approximately $150,000.  The items include big screen televisions, iPods, GPS devises, computers and jewelry.

Detectives believe the stolen items were being shipped to Mexico where they were being resold.  The investigation continues with additional arrests and charges forthcoming.  Since the beginning of the task force, 35 individuals have been arrested with a total of 76 burglary related charges.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 941-747-3011, ext. 2218 or Crime Stoppers at 866-634-TIPS.
